Bohol is a first-class province in the Philippines. It is the tenth largest island in the country as well. The province is consist of one main island and 75 other minor surrounding islands. It is a well-known tourist destination for its beaches, resorts, limestone formations, and the famous Chocolate Hills. The Philippine Tarsier is also indigenous at this province. It is among the smallest primate in the world and is one of the charms of Bohol. Located also in Bohol is the Panglao Island which is one of the top ten diving locations in the world.

The Province of Bohol is a primary eco-cultural tourism destination. While it boasts its cultural heritage, the province is also committed to environmental management. In fact, in 2017, its provincial government commenced the nomination of the province to the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network.

It is also listed in the National Historic Landmark by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines.

  • Blood Compact Site – where Miguel Lopez de Legazpi and Datu Sikatuna performed “Sandugo.” It is a tribal tradition that symbolizes the friendship made by two parties. Sandugo is a Visayan word that means one blood. It is performed by two persons by cutting their wrists, mixing their blood in a cup filled with wine usually, and then drinking it.

  • Tarsier Sanctuary – claimed by most travelers the best sanctuary in the country. It is over a 134 hectare of forest filled with lush greenery. Hence, Tarsiers can freely roam its natural habitat. The sanctuary is also well-kept and tourists can easily wander around. The walking trails are strategically placed all throughout the forest. The Tarsier Sanctuary is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Bohol.

  • Bilar Man-Made Forest – is a two-kilometer forest of Mahogany trees. It is the most favorite stop-over spot of tourists going to the Chocolate Hills.

  • Chocolate Hills – The most famous tourist attraction in Bohol. It is a thousand hills covered in green grass that turns into brown during the dry season. It is the third declared National Geological Monument of the Philippines. In fact, the hills are protected under the National Integrated Protected Areas System (NIPAS).

  • Habitat Butterfly Conservation Center – built to protect and strengthen the habitat of the butterflies. The center arranges plant research, breeding, and releasing. It also focuses on studying the preservation of host plants. Visitors can get closer with the butterflies in the center. The center also provides facilities and services for the visitors’ utmost comfort.

  • Loboc River – another major tourist destination in Bohol. Tourists cruise the serene water of the river on a native floating restaurant. Serve in the boat is a delectable lunch to be enjoyed and savored by everyone.

Panglao Island is another top tourist destination in the Philippines. This island is made of Maribojoc limestone and its landscape varies from plain, hilly, unto mountainous. It has a unique geological feature of a cave with an underground water source called Hinagdanan Cave. Its underground water source is the only source of water in the island.

  • Panglao Island – is very popular for its small islands and fine beaches. There are a lot of attractions and water activities every tourist must try in Panglao. This include kite-surfing, scuba diving, snorkeling, island hopping, and more!
