JIUFEN VILLAGE
Jiufen Village has an interesting historical background. Located along the hills in the northeast Taiwan facing the sea, Jiufen Village used to be the center of the country’s gold mining. From a poor village with just a total number of nine families, 4,000 families were attracted and moved to Jiufen and soon, the village was acknowledged as a Gold City of Asia and was named Little Shanghai and Little Hongkong. However the gold mining industry fades but the village today remains popular – for an ideal location for movies, their unique tea houses, street shopping, and shops vending the most famous country snacks makes the village more interesting to explore around.
NANYA ROCK FORMATIONS
A fantastic rock formation and sea-eroded coral shore known as the northernmost tourist spot with a scenic area in Taiwan. The entire coastline has a perfect patterned stone topography that looked like a veritable sculpture garden which makes the Nanya Rock Formation magnificent and unique.
BITOU CAPE
Bitou Cape is one of the three capes of North Taiwan situated on the northeast coast along with Fugiu Cape in the northernmost part and Sandiao Cape in the easternmost. Most of the sea-eroded landform types of the entire Northeast Coast can be found at Bitou Cape such as sea cliffs, undercut bluffs, fully developed platforms. Hence, the Bitou Cape Park is a perfect natural geological classroom. There is a paved footpath beside the Bitou Elementary School, a route to the said cape and to the Bitou Cape Lighthouse. Bitou Cape Lighthouse – it was built in the 1986 and was reconstructed into its original form after being destroyed during the World War II. Bitou Cape Lighthouse is definitely the perfect place to witness the impressive panorama of the sea and the sky.
