Keelung Harbor faces the Pacific Ocean and is located between the Fugui Cape and Cape Bitou. Keelung Harbor is also surrounded by mountain ranges from east, west, and from the south part with a narrow waterway. From the Keelung Harbor, tourists can witness the breathtaking scenic view of the ocean that also makes it a perfect place to have a deep conversation about life with one another.

CHUNG CHENG PARK

Northern Coast Tour - Chung Cheng Park

Explore the three-level Chung Cheng Park or Zhongzheng Park located at the side of Dashawan Mountain. See up close the famous statue and a landmark of the Keelung City, the Goddess of Mercy that measures 25-meter high. The first level of the park features the historic canon fort; a Buddhist library, the Martyr’s Shrine, and the Zhuputan Temple on the second; and the Guanhai Pavilion on the third.

  • Goddess of Mercy – a 25-meter high white statue considered as the landmark or Chung Cheng Park. It is also acknowledged as the biggest statue in Southeast Asia and has a stairway inside leading to the top

  • Zhuputan Temple – worshipers gather here every Zhongyuan Festival. It becomes a location for yearly worship, hence in the past, the Temple also become a location of a dispute between Taiwanese and first immigrants to Taiwan fighting with each other for land.

  • Guanhai Pavilion – overlook the entire City of Keelung and the ocean on this pavilion.

YEHLIU PARK

The Yehliu Park features the formed scenery consisting of sea trenches/holes, candle shaped rocks, and pot shaped rocks from the weathering and earth movements. The rock layer of seashore contains limestone texture and this location is an ideal place to do field research on Geology. The Yehliu Park is thus divided into three sections: the first section features the Queen’s Head, Fairy’s Shoe and Candle; the rocks formed like a Bean Curd and a Dragon Head on the second section; and on the third are the sea-eroded caves, seal shaped rock, and etc. There is also the Lin Tien Jane Statue built to commemorate Lin Tien Jane’s bravery of scarifying own life to save others.

Located also in Yehliu is the Marine World, first marine center in Taiwan that exhibits ocean evolution. Tourists can witness around 200 rare species of fishes and marine lives from its best sightseeing tunnel under the sea.
